We had a turnout of seven for our club night on Thursday 27th November. Eric Westbrook suggested a format of a mixture of rated seven point matches and a "rolling" chouette of those players waiting for a match.
Eric was the overall winner of the matches and retained our weekly winner's trophy.
Wins: Eric Westbrook 2/2 Dave Filer 2/3 Phil Tutchings 2/3 James Robinson 1/2 Paul Plumptre 0/2 Debora Hill 0/2
Newcomer Lynn Backham played out an instructional friendly with Paul before taking her place in the chouette - and went on to play her part in an entertaining finish to the evening:

In this endgame position Paul (brown checkers is on roll). Paul is "in the box" against the team - Lynn and Dave. Dave had dropped an earlier double leaving Lynn to play out the game. Paul offers a redouble here (the XG software analysis shows that he has a 79.22% chance of winning).
Paul can win the game on this roll if a) Lynn drops the cube b) Paul rolls any double except double 1 (5/36).
Lynn takes. Paul rolls and takes two checkers off his three point. Lynn must now roll any double to win (a 1/6 chance) and obliges with a double 6!

In fact Phil, Dave had also taken, but his cube was now on 2. So instead of winning 4+2, Lynn's double six cost me a swing of 12 points to 4 and 2.
